Kelly Ahrens

Kelly Ahrens is from Columbia, South Carolina and currently lives in Irmo, SC.  He is the founder of Stars and Stripes Sports, Test and Train Sports and Athlete Engineering.  He went to Cardinal Newman High School and then Newberry College where he played baseball. He was drafted in the 20th Round of the 1989  MLB Draft by the San Francisco Giants and played in the Pioneer League, Midwest League, and Northwest League.  Athlete Engineering is a specialized process utilized to build athletes with a proper foundation.  Athletes will receive data-driven targeted training customized to provide long-term benefits enabling top performance while reducing the chance for injury.  Each athlete will manage their digital athletic profile creating the accountability necessary to track proper progressive development.

Kelly has co-developed an Athlete Management System that enables accountability to take place in the development process of an athlete. He has pioneered a Sports Testing process testing thousands of athletes across the United States creating a bank of information that is used daily across the country.  The Hitter Handicap, Pitcher Handicap,  The Mental MRI, Strong Gripz Training and specialized progressive athlete muscular endurance workouts have evolved after many years of application and research.  Kelly devotes his time to learning by application and through research and consultation with the top professionals in the country. Stars and Stripes Sports produced the first athlete matrix that allows athletes to know exactly where they stand in their age group in reference to other players.

Kelly has emerged as an authority in sports technology solutions gaining experience in the use of multiple devices in the sports testing and development process.  Practical application in utilizing the technology that proves value in competition is where the rubber meets the road and where Kelly’s focus lies.  Simplifying a process that yields great results proven by testing and re-testing enables all parties involved to stay on track and yield the highest return on investment in time spent in training.  Kelly has traveled all over the United States as well as Cuba and the Dominican Republic testing and learning how athletes function and what key aspects work in training.  Kelly specializes in Baseball/Softball Instruction and general athletic development assisting all committed athletes in all sports who are looking for accountability.

Kelly has applied his knowledge of Athlete Engineering at all levels having coached youth travel teams, American Legion, Summer Collegiate Teams and currently serves as Athletic Development Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at University of South Carolina Salkehatchie.  Kelly spends most days on the field or in private sessions with athletes engineering their skill through a progressive calculated and tested process which has proven great results.
